Software developer resume: a structure that earns interviews

A practical developer CV structure: experience, stack, outcomes, and tailoring your resume to a role.

Start with what a recruiter needs to see

In a few seconds, your resume should explain your role, seniority, stack, and the problems you have solved. It is not a full biography.

A useful CV structure

Put the strongest evidence at the start of every section. For junior candidates, that can be coursework, internships, personal projects, or open-source contributions.

  • Contact details and LinkedIn or GitHub.
  • A short professional summary.
  • Experience and projects with outcomes.
  • Technologies, education, and languages.

Describe outcomes

Replace “built a backend” with the effect: improved API response time, automated a check, or covered a critical workflow. If you do not have numbers, state the scale and user impact honestly.
